Police were called at 23:36 yesterday to the report two local men, aged 31 and 27, having being injured. The 31-year-old man suffered stab wounds. The 27-year-old suffered serious injuries not believed to be life-changing.

A Police spokesperson said:
"The incident is reported to have occurred on St Ninians Road, Carlisle.
"A 27-year-old man a 26-year-old man and a 27-year-old female, all local, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. They remain in police custody.
"A police cordon is in place at St Ninians Road footbridge, over the river Petteril, whilst investigations are conducted.
