12 year old sets up online gaming business

SHARE:

A 12 year old entrepreneur from Whitehaven, who researched, designed and set up his own online gaming accessories business, has pledged to support Hospice at Home West Cumbria with some of the profits.

Alfie Goodwin, 12, who is a year 7 pupil at St Benedict’s Catholic High School, came up with the idea of sourcing and selling gaming accessories to make games consoles and controllers more colourful and comfortable to use.

Alfie’s business, Bulwark Gaming, is named after the Bulwark Quay on the harbour in his home town of Whitehaven. The business went live on the 11th January 2021 and Alfie has already received over 20 orders through his website and is now working hard on marketing to increase his sales. Samples of the products have been sent to users on Tik Tok to review, and 2 giveaway competitions have been organised to help boost publicity.

10% of all profits made will be donated to Hospice at Home West Cumbria which is close to the family’s heart. Alfie’s Nanna, Carol Goodwin cared for patients as a hospice nurse and was a pioneer of the charity’s complementary therapy service for many years and so the family know just how important it is to support their services.

Alfie said “I am very excited by my new business venture and I hope to make even more sales so that I can donate greater amounts to hospice at home in memory of my Nanny Carol who also did so much to help and I hope to make her proud.”

Stella Walsh, Community Fundraising Team Leader for hospice said “I am so impressed with the skills, knowledge and attitude Alfie has shown through setting his business up by himself,  what a fantastic achievement for only being 12 years old! Thank you Alfie for choosing to support Hospice at Home West Cumbria in your venture, we can’t wait to see how you succeed and grow your business”.

You can visit the Bulwark Gaming website at bulwark-gaming.company.site to view and order products.
