A student from Orgill Primary School in Egremont has tested positive for Covid-19. The school said that the pupil was from "bubble 4" and last attended school on Thursday (1st October).
Head teacher Julie Irving said: "Children and staff within this bubble are already self-isolating due to a confirmed, positive, adult case in the same bubble last week.
"We are in close communication with Cumbria Public Health and will liaise with them again, with regards to the impact that this second case now has on the period of self-isolation.
"I would like to take this opportunity to remind all parents that if your child has been instructed to self-isolate then this means that they MUST stay at home.
"Two children from bubble 4 were seen out in the local community (5th October), clearly not self-isolating. This is incredibly irresponsible and also against the law. It is important that we act quickly and decisively to spread any further spread of this virus in school. Please support us in doing this.
"We believe the pupil who has tested positive to be generally well and not suffering too much. We wish them a speedy recovery.
