Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service were called out yesterday (28th October) at 11am, to Silver Howe Farm at Gosforth, following reports of a barn being well alight. Four pump units from Whitehaven, Frizington, Seascale and Egremont were in attendance.
A spokesperson for CFRS said: "On arrival, we found a barn full of straw well alight. Crews struggled with poor water supply.
"Seascale utilised an open water supply from a small stream, while Frizington and Whitehaven started a water relay to supplement the Egremont pump.
"The Sellafield water bowser and a farm bowser were also used to keep the water supply flowing. The farm telehandler was used for emptying the barn.
"Crews were in attendance for approximately twelve hours."
