Millom Coastguard were called out yesterday (13 September) following a report of suspicious items on the beach at Drigg. The team attended the scene and confirmed that the items were ordnance. Photographs were sent to the Military Explosive Ordinance Disposal team.
A spokesperson from the Coastguard said: "The Royal Navy EOD Team from Northern Diving Group at Faslane attended in the evening.
"Operations continued early this morning with the EOD Team disposing of a number of items.
"If you discover anything out of the ordinary, leave it where it is and dial 999 and ask for Coastguard.
"If you can give a grid reference, that would be fantastic. Failing that use the 'What Three Words' App on your phone. If all else fails leave a pile of stones above the High Water Line to give us some indication of the location."
