Police are appealing for witnesses after racially-aggravated abuse was shouted at a member of door staff at The Junction Pub in Jane Street.
It happened at about 10.15pm on Saturday August 29.
Officers are asking anyone who may have witnessed this hate incident to come forward to help with inquiries.
A spokesperson from Cumbria Police said:
"There is no place for hate on the streets of Cumbria and these types of incidents are dealt with vigorously and appropriately."
