Fire crews attended Carnforth this morning after receiving reports of a train carriage being on fire.
A spokesperson from Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said:
"This morning at 08:37 we were called out to reports of a train carriage on fire.
"On arrival we found a single carriage interior well alight and heavily smoke logged, all personel accounted for.
"Crews from Cumbria, Silverdale and Blackpool attended the scene.
"4 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reels and a ventilation unit were used to extinguish the fire. We remained at the scene for several hours whilst we dampened down.
