Carlisle Crime Reduction Partnership today (19 Aug) stopped a group of alleged shoplifters from Bolton who had been operating in the area.
A spokesperson from the partnership said: "We were alerted by stores security to a group who had entered the store who were responsible for a large theft a couple of days ago.
"Our team quickly arrived on scene where the group were detained outside the store.
"A car that was lying in wait was seized and then searched, where a large amount of goods that are believed to be stolen from retailers were found.
"The females from the group had large bags sewn behind their long skirts. This is used to conceal items in large quantities quickly while attempting to remain undetected."
