Millom Coastguard have been called out to suspected ordnance on the beach at Eskmeals. Furness Coastguard were also called out to assist.
A spokesperson said:
"The Army EOD (Bomb Disposal) Team were in attendance.
"Following a search by the team of the surrounding area, 100+ items were located.
"These were dealt with by the EOD Team. Controlled explosions were used to dispose of the items.
"After the Second World War a lot of ordnance was dumped in the sea from the North of Wales to the South of Scotland. Ordnance items are frequently discovered along our shoreline.
"If you see something you suspect could be ordnance on the beach or you are in danger around the coast dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
