Woman airlifted following 150ft fall

SHARE:

Yesterday (15 July) Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team were called out to Whiteless Pike after a woman fell 150ft.

A spokesperson from CMRT said:

"A walker took a 150ft tumbling fall from the top of Whiteless Pike, sustaining a suspected broken wrist and serious head injuries.

"A medical crew from the Air Ambulance service attended, however due to the awkward location of the casualty, and the need for a speedy evacuation, an AW189 from the Coastguard attended and winched her onboard.

"We wish her a speedy recovery.

"This is our first callout since March, and we feel duty bound to thank the public for heeding advice and staying within their limits. Accidents will still happen, even with the greatest of care, but we will be ready."
