13 members and a search dog from Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team were on duty yesterday (4th July) after receiving a call-out for two lost walkers.
A spokesperson from WMRT said:
"Two women had set out for a short walk at Cold Fell at 10:30am. Due to foggy conditions they became lost and were unable to find the route back to their car. They eventually called Cumbria Police at 14:59 to ask for help.
"The Team Leader was able to locate them using Phone Find, discovering they were close to the summit of Caw Fell. The Team Leader gave them directions to head down off the fell towards a track, keeping a beck on their left.
"A team were deployed along with our Search dog Jess and they walked towards the women. Having met up with the team, they were helped to cross the beck, and it was then a 2 hour walk back to their car.
"As they only intended to be out for a short while the walkers had no food or water with them.
