Furness Coastguard were called out yesterday (22 July) at 14:25 after a request from Cumbria Police to assist in a search for a vulnerable person.
A spokesperson said:
"The team were tasked with searching an area from Earnse point, through the sand dunes to the North end of Walney and back down the East Side to Mill Lane.
"As this was a large search area a request was made for assistance from Millom Coastguard Rescue Team as well as Duddon Inshore-rescue Duddon Inshore Rescue quad bikes and Barrow Lifeboat.
"Search teams were deployed to search their areas and Barrow Lifeboat was requested to carry out a shoreline search freeing up coastguard officers to search the sand dunes and nature reserve inland.
