Civil injunctions taken out against two Cleator Moor addresses due to anti-social behaviour

Officers from Copeland Neighbourhood Policing Team and Housing Managers from Home Group have worked together via their Local Focus Hub to secure two Civil Injunctions.

A spokesperson from Cumbria Police said: "Cumbria Police and Home Group have been made aware of two separate incidents involving two separate addresses in Cleator Moor.

"One incident occurred on the 20th June into the early hours of the 21st June and was in the Robert Owen Avenue area.

"The other incident occurred on the 6th June in the Clayton Avenue area. Both incidents involved large scale gatherings inside an address which then spilled onto the streets causing significant nuisance to those residents in the area.

"Home Group, with support of officers from Cumbria Constabulary have secured two Civil Injunctions which restricts the tenants from causing a nuisance or having large scale gatherings in their properties."

Sgt David McDonald of Cumbria Police said: "Everyone has the right to live peacefully in their home and we at Cumbria Constabulary are committed to dealing with anti -social behaviour.

"We have been working with Home Group and partners in the Local Focus Hub to deal with anti-social behaviour in your area. We are acutely aware that tensions and frustrations are high at the moment due to the COVID pandemic however this is no excuse to behave irresponsibly.

"Help us help you by reporting any issues that concern you to the police or Home Group. We would like you to keep records of any incidents of anti -social behaviour in the area. When relevant information has been recorded, it can be reported in a number of ways."

You can contact Cumbria Constabulary by calling 101 and asking for your local PCSO.

Sgt David McDonald added: "This case has shown that when we have adequate information we will act robustly to deal with those responsible."

James Varah, Operations Manager from Home Group said: "Home Group place customers at the forefront of everything we do and take incidents of anti-social behaviour extremely seriously.

"We are aware that the implications of lockdown have placed significant restrictions on people, however as these restrictions begin to be lifted, we are encouraging our customers to respond in a sensible manner and continue to be considerate of their neighbours and community.

"We are aware of two incidents of anti-social behaviour that have occurred in the Cleator Moor area which have caused significant distress to the residents in the surrounding properties.

"As a result, in partnership with Cumbria Constabulary, two civil injunctions have been sought to ensure this type of behaviour does not occur again. If anyone is affected by anti-social behaviour, I would always encourage you to contact Home Group directly on 0345 141 4663 or by visiting our website."
