Cleator Moor Celtic say that there has been an incident in their Junior Field in Cleator today which has resulted in electric cables falling.
It is understood that seagulls brought the cables down, resulting in a loss of supplies to the village. A large explosion was heard by residents.
A club spokesperson said:
"These cables are live and electrical engineers are currently working to address the issue. In order to access the field the engineers had to cut our chain on the gate.
"They will padlock the gate upon leaving this evening, and forecast the remedial works to take at least a couple of days.
"Please could you ensure we communicate to all that nobody is to try and access the Cleator pitch until we’re advised it’s safe to do so."
