Furness Coastguard were paged this morning at 05:36 to assist Cumbria Police with an incident in the vicinity of Priory Crossings, Ulverston.
A spokesperson said:
"The team met with Cumbria police who confirmed there was a person on Chapel Island in need of assistance.
"The team deployed two water rescue technicians with the water rescue sled, and along with assistance from Ulverston Inshore Rescue and Cumbria Police, successfully recovered the casualty and passed them through to the care of North West Ambulance Service.
"Arnside & South Lakes Coastguard Rescue Team were also called to assist.
"This was a long recovery over difficult terrain ultimately leading to a positive outcome.
