Officers yesterday (May 24) in the early hours located a quantity of cannabis at a property on Lowther Street, Whitehaven.
The Illicit growers were so brazen in their operation, that it was set up 100 yards from Whitehaven Police Station, in the former Lowther Street Post Office.
Gjerhi Braculla, aged 39 from Archdale Place, New Maiden has been charged with possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class B – Cannabis and producing a controlled drug of class B – Cannabis.
Xhoni Leka, aged 28 from The Dene, Wembley has been charged with possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class B – Cannabis and producing a controlled drug of class B – Cannabis.
Both men appear at Carlisle’s magistrate’s court today (May 25). Prosecutor Tom Snape told magistrates: "Police say there were 1,300 cannabis plants at that address and suggest this is a million pound enterprise by an organised crime gang."
Two men from Manchester aged 27 and 30 were arrested on suspicion of producing a controlled drug class B – Cannabis and have been released on police bail.
