The Cleator Moor Covid-19 Support Group is to cease operating from 12th June as the town begins to approach normality.
Gary Meagan, from the group said:
"As of FRIDAY THE 12th OF JUNE we will be stopping our services to the Town (Covid-19 related) and the phone number will cease to operate.
"We will honour the council ran Food Pantry which the last one is on Tuesday the 23rd of June, after that date, we will be finished unless we get a second wave.
"We have plans on turning the group into a charity going forward and you will hear more about that in the coming days. We will also decide what to do with the monies we raised to help this community.
"This decision was taken as many of us begin to go back to work and the the demand for our help is falling weekly.
"This group has been 100% Community Run, by people from all walks of life. Everyone that has had a hand in it however big or small should be really proud, it will be one tell tell the grandkids for sure.
"It has been an honour to serve the Town we love so much. A lot of friendships have been forged and after hearing some of the stories from our community we will not take certain things for granted ever again. We will all meet again further down the road for a massive party and a hug.
"We would like to thank all volunteers for their support - you guys have smashed it.
"The zone leads were Vanessa Butler, Amy Caddy, Michael Eldon, John Murphy, Ian Rooney, myself and Sian Price our food share lead.
"It was pretty much 7 days a week and the commitment was phenomenal by everyone. It really does emphasise the community spirit we have here.
"The support number for Cumbria (0800 783 1966) will remain operational for the time being.
