A fake speed camera has been installed in Moor Row by an anonymous individual and is already forcing speeding drivers to slow down.
The legality of fake devices are questionable, with some councils demanding their removal. The Scalegill Road 'camera' has appeared following the deaths of a number of pets in its vicinity.
Residents of the village have protested over speeding vehicles for a number of years and have called for speed restrictions. The mobile speed camera van, operated by Cumbria Police, is a regular visitor.
The arrival of the 'camera' has been widely welcomed on social media, with members of the public asking for more to be placed around West Cumbria. One resident said they would "shake the hand of whoever put it there".
- Funding is in place from Cumbria County Council to install speed bumps to slow speeding vehicles along Scalegill Road.
