Holyhead Coastguard tasked Bay Search & Rescue to assist in the rescue of two people trapped in their vehicles at Sandside, south Lakes.
A spokesperson from BS&R said:
"On arrival, Arnside / Morecambe Coastguard had done a superb job and extracted the two people from their vehicles and got them to a safe place.
"One casualty was experiencing chest pain and the Ambulance Service were called, but due to the height of the tide they couldn’t get their Ambulance anywhere near the scene.
"BS&R provided a unique taxi service to the Ambulance Service, and their equipment, with our all terrain Hagglund which based in Milnthorpe.
"Wading through the flood water, we deposited the paramedics safely at the house where the lady with chest pain was being looked after, by the Arnside Coastguard team.
"This was a superb effort by all teams and agencies.
"Please don’t chance driving through flood water, it simply isn’t worth it."
