A large freezer has been dumped on the road leading to Low Moresby, and has been removed by the Copeland Borough Council waste team at a cost to the taxpayer.
A spokesperson from the council said:
"If anyone has any information on who may be involved, please get in touch with us on 01946 598300 or at info@copeland.gov.uk.
"We can issue a fixed penalty notice of £250 for those caught fly-tipping. We can also prosecute more serious cases which is punishable by a fine of up to £50,000 or 12 months’ imprisonment if convicted in a Magistrates’ Court.
"Please note that Copeland Borough Council has no jurisdiction over the household waste recycling centres in the borough, these are the responsibility of Cumbria County Council.
