Kayleigh Daniels appointed to Cleator Moor Town Board

SHARE:

The newly-formed Cleator Moor Town Fund Board is in the process of pulling together a bid for potential multi-million-pound Government funding.

Kayleigh Daniels, of REACT Engineering Ltd, based in the town, will chair the committee that will work with and advise Copeland Council on its bid to the Towns Fund, which could secure up to £25 million for the town.

Ms Daniels’ appointment follows a public meeting and the inaugural Cleator Moor Town Fund Board meeting in January.
Ms Daniels said: “I’m proud to have been appointed Chair and I am looking forward to working with the community and all partners, as we look to make the most of this opportunity for the town.

“It was no surprise to see such passion and support from our community at the first public meeting, and I have no doubt the Cleator Moor community spirit will continue to drive this bid forward.

“We now have a budget to begin the planning process of the bid, and we have roles currently under recruitment and initial events planned for the coming weeks.

“The board will be looking to engage the wider community through working sessions open to all, looking at what makes our town unique and an aspirational vision for the future. We will also be holding a series of engagement sessions with the businesses in and around the town.

“Our goal is to broker a deal to get as much money as we can into our town, but also to use this in a way that sets us up in a sustainable way for the future, with opportunities for Cleator Moor people across a wide range of sectors.”

In September 2019, Copeland Council was invited to bid for up to £25 million in funding for both Cleator Moor and Millom, and has been required to create boards in each town to drive the bid. The boards are made up of the public and private sector, with a range of community representatives invited to join.
