South Lakeland District Council are progessing with plans to repair and enhance Grange Promenade, as part of a wider Coastal Communities funded project to grow Morecambe Bay as a visitor destination. This is being delivered with Morecambe Bay Partnership through the Morecambe Bay Coastal Communities Team’s ‘Explore Morecambe Bay’ initiative.
Along with plans to completely replace and repair the sea wall and coastal defences that form part of the historic Promenade, new Art Deco inspired interpretation panels, street lighting and surfacing improvements are proposed to bring an enhanced offer along the Promenade, which will complement the light touch refurbishment scheme for Grange Lido.
The plans for the Promenade also include a new play area, and SLDC would be interested in hearing from residents who want to get involved in the redesign of the Promenade Playground, located next to Emma’s Café.
South Lakeland District Council are seeking input from Grange-over-Sands residents to contribute towards the development of new interpretation panels to be installed on the Promenade.
The panels will be installed along the length of the Promenade, forming part of the enhancements works and will celebrate the unique history and location of Grange-over-Sands.
