Zachary O’Connor, 33, of Lancaster appeared at Carlisle Crown Court today admitting two charges of Fraud and two charges of engaging as a trader in a commercial practice which was aggressive.
His offending occurred in South Cumbria in 2018 when he visited his victim, a 93 year old vulnerable lady who lives alone, telling her she needed work doing on her roof. She was told it would cost £2,300 which later increased to £4000. The victim did not agree to the work being done, however O’Connor proceeded anyway. Some of the work was carried out to a very poor standard and the rest left incomplete. A concerned neighbour alerted Trading Standards and the Police.
O’Connor is well known to the service having been prosecuted by the team in 2010 for similar offences & receiving a custodial sentence.
