Cumbria Fire and Rescue service are reminding residents across the county to park their vehicles considerately after a Fire Engine had to reverse 400 metres and find another route in Whitehaven due to cars parking on either side of the road.
A spokesperson said:
"Whitehaven Fire Crew came across this double parking tonight on Esk Avenue. As you can see no room to get the Fire Appliance through.
"This is one of many occasions this has happened. We had to reverse 400 metres and take another route. Please think and park considerately. In an emergency seconds / minutes could make all the difference.
"If we can’t get through, we can’t help you!"
