This morning, a concerned member of the public alerted the Coastguard to their concerns regarding fishermen working on Harrington Pier as the weather was deteriorating.
A spokesperson for the Coastguard said:
"We attended to investigate and spoke to the fishermen to ensure they were safe and offer safety advice.
"With the risk of recreational and commercial fishermen being swept into the water, we would always recommend that the appropriate lifejackets or personal flotation device is worn which is appropriate to the activity, as well as the wearing of a Personal Locator Beacon.
"For commercial fishermen, funding support is available from the below scheme."
