Lifeboats were launched in the early hours of this morning to help recover a boat that had become grounded in the Allonby Bay area.
A spokesperson from Workington RNLI said: "We were alerted at around 4.30am by CGOC Belfast Coastguard that a 13m scallop boat was stuck between Maryport and Silloth, in the Allonby Bay area.
"Silloth RNLI was also called out but attempts to free the grounded vessel at high tide were unsuccessful.
"A second attempt will be carried out at high tide later today. The single crewman is on board and uninjured.
"The Shannon class Dorothy May White has been slightly damaged."
Its understood that another recovery attempt will take place at 3pm today (Wednesday).
