At approximately 10.45am, appliances from Carlisle East and Carlisle West were mobilised to reports of a property fire just off Carleton Road, Carlisle.
Crews discovered a well developed fire in an upstairs bedroom, with heavy smoke logging throughout.
A spokesperson from Cumbria Fire and Rescue service said:
"Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus fought the blaze, and extinguished it using 2 hosereels, a thermal image camera, a positive pressure ventilation fan, and small tools.
"Crews then cut away at the heavily fire damaged areas, to make sure there were no hidden embers.
