The Highways Agency are reporting that the M6 northbound between Catterlen (J41) and Southwaite Services is closed due to an accident involving a lorry. Expect delays.
A spokesperson from the Highways Agency said, "The M6 from J41 (Wigton) towards J42 (CarlisleSouth A6) is closed. Maintenance crew are en-route. Traffic Officers from Cumbria Police and Cumbria Fire are on the scene."
A spokesperson from Cumbria Fire and Rescue said, "A Vehicle collided with the central reservation. Nobody is trapped but there is asubstantial fuel leak.
"M6 North will be completely closed between the affected junctions while a cleanup operation takes place."
Road users are advised to use the 'solid triangle' diversion symbols at J41. Trapped traffic is slowly being released passed the scene.
The M6 is expected to be closed until the early hours of Monday morning to allow for carriageway repairs. Follow Highways NW for updates.
