Cleator Moor Anti Social Behaviour

SHARE:

Cumbria Police have been visiting homes in the area following reports of anti-social behaviour. A spokesperson for Cumbria Police said:
We are getting together with other agencies to see what can be done about anti-social behaviour in a part of Cleator Moor.
After receiving reports of problems, the first stage was to find out what people were concerned about.
This led to surveys being carried out in Howbank Road, Egremont and Ennerdale Road, where our staff went door-to-door.
Work is now underway with our partners in the Local Focus Hub to tackle this issue. Further actions should see benefits for residents.

After reports of three young people being involved in crime and anti-social behaviour in Cleator Moor, referrals were made to the west area prevent and deter panel so diversionary intervention could be considered and acted upon by specialist officers and agencies.

There have been reported issues in the summer holidays with teenagers climbing over the fence of Montreal School and throwing items about in the grounds, as well as children climbing on the roof of the building.

Community engagement

PCSO Watson has been busy with pupils from St Patricks School in Cleator Moor.

Mini Police have been recruited and will be starting their sessions this term.

In the run-up to Bonfire Night officers will conduct awareness talks at schools and also work closely with Cumbria Fire and Rescue and Copeland Council to ensure inappropriate bonfires are reported and removed. People should contact the local council if it is council land or the fire service if they have urgent concerns.

The pupils are expected to take part in an event to address a community priority.

If you have any information regarding anti-social behavior, please contact Cumbria Police on 101. If a crime is in progress then please use 999.
