Trudy Harrison celebrates local volunteers following garden transformation

Volunteers have transformed the garden and grounds of a Millom residential home for its 50th birthday.

Over 100 local people were invited to the grand opening at the weekend to see the hard work of the Around The Combe Volunteers group at Lapstone House Residential Home.

The 15 volunteers redesigned the garden over the past three months and have made it brighter, more accessible and enjoyable for residents.

Copeland MP, Trudy Harrison, was at the opening event. She said: “This is a fantastic achievement from the Around The Combe Volunteers group. I visited the unveiling on Saturday and want to congratulate everyone involved, including local businesses and members of the public who also played a huge part. This is community working at its very best. When there is a job to be done in Millom, the community comes together and makes it happen.”

Jenny Brumby, who manages the Around The Combe projects, said: “We would like to thank Trudy Harrison MP for joining us on Saturday to celebrate the 50th birthday of Lapstone House Residential Home. Trudy was able to see first hand the work we have undertaken over the last three months. We are thrilled with what our volunteers have achieved and look forward to our next community project.”

The group has over 30 volunteers who have been involved in various projects over the past five years.
